This perpetual fight with my scale.
These repetitive up's and down's.
Not sure, if I do get too much / too few or just enough of
vitamins, mineral nutrients and what else i should take in.
Then I happened to hear about online tools.
So I googled (what else) and found
www.Foodplaner.de, a german website.
Just a tool to count calories, for free.
You will for sure find some in english too,
like
Calorie Counter
http://www.myfitnesspal.com/
As I really like online gaming, and like statistics too,
I started with it, got caught, worked it out.
What can I say, this smart tool is what I really needed.
In the meantime - about 10 weeks -
I lost more than 7 kgs, never thought it would come to this!
At the beginning I spent hours on foodplaner
to find the items, to build my own database...
well, it was interesting and kept me off eating too.
Next phase the feeding of the foodplaner with datas
was not the great challenge anymore,
you get used to it quickly.
Amazing though, the insights about my nutrition.
I started to think twice and finally stopped
eating just a slice of bread because it was so easy to get.
I started to look for better options.
Did not want to waste so many calories on just a little slice.
Found out - OK, half of it would do too
and keep me as satisfied.
Personally I think losing weight won't work without
keeping an eye on calories. But it should be a smart way.
My search made me browse through many pages,
loads of information and interesting suggestions.
After all, I slowly changed my diet
not by excluding but by adding new items
until the light food did not leave enough space for the rest.
Some bad attitudes slipped away as I do not need them anymore.
Now, before I grab a slice of bread,
I have already fixed my daily green smoothie
and won't eat the bread before I have emptied these two servings.
Guess what, I regularly forget about bread. I feel fine without.
And the longer I am keeping myself off bread and cookies,
the less I do miss them. Never thought this could happen to me.
I spent a lot of time doing online search
for actual knowledge about nutrition, trends and concepts.
As I won't commit easily and need a lot of information before,
I found out after all - already got confused by so many opinions -
that there are many different theories and concepts
but none of them can be the one and only and best.
Nothing better than trust in my very own intuition.
I am not on 80:10:10, nor do I Low-Carb
and I am not into the Low-Fat & Fibres.
I finally arrived at the point my mother always preached:
Balance, temperance.
You don't live to eat. You eat to live.
It seems that the isocaloric diet is what Mom spoke about.
Just a third of calories on carbo/fat/protein.
That's it. It sounds good too me.
This website provided me with a lot of information
and there is a tool to calculate your very own
need of intake:
isocaloric calculator
Ah yes, those calories...
well, I still love the foodplaner tool
as it helps me to keep intake under control.
With success.
